- 0:00: Colors used in this segment-Raw Umber (dark brown), Raw Sienna (light brown), white, black . Note: I start with these neutral colors and more realistic colours of a brown bear, but in video four you will see that I change the colors to purple and turquoise. You can start with the colors you want or experiment, knowing you can always paint over it later. I find that starting with the brown, even thought you can’t really see it in the end, it still added something to the finished painting. Perhaps the brown was the hibernation phase for me.
- 2:00: Starting with the darks/shadows in the face and body. Still using the reference to help place the shadows. Remember starting out can be scary and it may look a little off, but push past that feeling and look at it from a state of curiosity. What happens if I move my brush like this? Or what if I try this color here?
