February 18: New Moon in Aquarius/Pisces
From the Newsletter:
The New Moon happens tonight (Tuesday February 18) at exactly 3:47pm PST, and will be in the zodiac Aquarius at this moment and then moving into the Constellation of Pisces a minute later, and the sun moves into Pisces 3 minutes after that. This is technically the second New Moon in Aquarius this year, but some would say that this is really more of a Pisces moon, and if you look into the phases document in our classroom you will see that the New Moon technically lasts longer than one night so technically thee New moon will be longer in Pisces than it will Aquarius.
Check out the mysticmamma for more in depth information on this moon.
This week we are looking deeper into the phases of the moon. In the Classroom I have posted a document going into 8 phases of the moon. What I have shared is what I have found through my research and are the things that resonate with me. I encourage you to also do your own research. . I know that some of you have already done this. I would love to see what you find. The phases we look at are the Dark/New Moon, Crescent, First Quarter, Gibbous, Full, Disseminating, Last Quarter and Balsamic.
The new moons are going to be quieter and not as involved as are full moon projects.
As we finish up in Aquarius what things are you ready to release? The Aquarius moon is one of open-mindedness and community.
And we enter Pisces what are you feeling? Be gentle with yourself and others this New Moon. If you are feeling sensitive which Pisces tends to being out try putting it into your creativity, and journal.
As with each dark/new moon take time to rest, and nurture yourself. Save some time just for you.
Light a candle, shed some light in the dark and just be, whatever that is for you.
Perhaps some Personal inquiry/research?
What moon phase were you born during? What does is mean to you? and what does the site say? Does it resonate with you-journal about this.
Here is a site to get you started.
**If you are joining me in tracking your own patterns through out the phases on the chart-let's pay attention to what happens or what feelings we have during the phase we were born in.
I was born during the waxing crescent, and the description resonated with me-once I finish something it is done, I am not one to revisit, and that I tend to encourage others around me. I was once told I am a better advocate for others than I am for myself-so far this is true-but something that I am working on.
Find a book, or magazine to tear a page out of-don't think about what it is, just randomly pull one out. Look through and circle with a pencil the words that stick out to you, doesn't matter what they are. Look through them again-can you make sentences out of them? If not do the segments mean something to you, even if it doesn't make sense to you right now?
Take a sharpie and black out the other words. What is there now? What possibilities does it hold? How does it make you feel? Tape it or glue it into your book.
Illustrate the moon phases in your own journal. I wrote them in, but also I made a mandala which incorporated the moon phases. I am planning on doing one in my actual moon journal-that is a little more simplified. I will post it when I am done.
below I have examples of the creative projects-hope it inspires you. Can't wait to share our insights on our facebook page.
This page came out of a children mystery novel. Something like the Hardy Boy's.
This is a mandala (the first one I have ever done), which I originally was not intending to be about the moons, but ended up that way. I am hoping to do a different version in my Journal. where the moons are a bit bigger and maybe incorporate some zodiac.
