This Kieran and Baron are Ninja Turtles. Kieran has not wanted to take off his costume since we got it. One of his favourite things right now is Ninja Turtles, especially the blue one, Leonardo...I think, I am surprised he hasn't made me change the colour on the mask. OF course I couldn't help but buy baron a Ninja Turtle costume too. That poor cat.
This week Kieran has started calling me out when I say 'Hey' by saying "Hay is for horses!'. I have no idea where he learned it, but it is hilarious.
We also had a conversation over breakfast about maple syrup and that it is sticky, and daddy uses it in his to make it stand up. Love his interpretation of hair gel.
He is very excited for tonight, last year was his first year going house to house, so now he knows to be excited, I may be a little excited too.
Here is a sped up video of some my selfie painting that I painted a couple months ago.
What do you think of selfies? I am mostly thinking of photo selfies here. I use to think it was silly, but now I feel differently. After having Kieran some of the only photos he and I selfies. I wouldn't say I am in to duckface every day, but documenting my life in time in place is really special. I do silly selfies for those I love, but the ones I do seriously are for me.
I think selfies can be therapeutic. Finding the things we love about ourselves, or capturing moments in our lives that may not be significant to anyone else. They can also be a way to connect. Sometimes I feel that we are alone more even though we are more connected, and posting selfies could be a way to connect with others, showing your personality more than just words. Maybe I am just stretching now, but I definitely have respect for selfies.
Kieran is not directly in this photo, but his hand is, and for the sweetest reason. His baby cousin was baptized this weekend and when no one was looking Kieran walked up and did the gentlest fist bump. I wish I had been faster with my camera. Kieran loves babies, he crouches down to their level, strokes there head and back, tries to cheer them up, it warms my heart to see it.
3 Fun things:
Kieran watches me very closely in the morning, while I get ready for work, especially while getting my snacks. Apparently I am only allowed to take one, and heaven help me if he catches me with two!
He has discovered the question "why?" so now we have lots of discussions until I no longer no why or what we were talking about in the first place...I really do love it. I drive Peter crazy answering all Kieran's "whys?"
He also enjoys stalling me when I ask him to do something by say "hmmm, I need to think about that."
Went for a nice fall walk this week, Kieran found a big stick (which now lives in our front yard), and pretended to be a ninja turtle.
This past week Kieran got his haircut. He loves getting his haircut, he looks like he is going to fall asleep in the chair while he is there. He wanted a "Hockey haircut" specifically "Goalie hair"-which is basically me saying cut it as short as you can, but we call it hockey hair. Every time he gets his hair cut it makes him look like he is 5 years old! He is growing so fast!
He also started gymnastics with 'Go Go Gymnastics' on the weekend. He had a blast. When they have to jump off things Kieran lands like a super hero every time-high jump crouch landing with fist to ground.
