“To eat of the pear means to feed our creative hunger to write, paint, sculpt, weave, to say our piece, to stand up for, put forward hopes and ideas and creations the likes of which the world has never seen before.”
–Clarissa Pinkola Estes “Women Who Run With the Wolves
She has been hanging in my home a while, but hadn't been signed or varnished. Now she rests at moms store 'Crystals and Karma' (soon to be called Dragonfly Crystals) in a gallery section of her shop.
I have been madly varnishing, signing, and creating write ups for my paintings. Even though they have been 'finished' and gazed upon-now they are honored and shining. My writings that accompany each painting have only really been handwritten. I have to say adding the varnish and typing up their messages has been incredible.
We often take for granted our inner knowing-forgetting to nurture our self and our ancient knowing. When I reread my words I am reminded-and I take pause.
Sacred Fruit.” She stays calm and sure of herself in in the chaos, offering you a sacred, voluptuous pear, containing a small pilot flame for you to use to set your soul flame a blaze. This small flame is often forgotten but needs to be nurtured and treated gently with conscious choices.
It's a big world out there...but Kieran has it covered. His favourite thing to do this week is to run through all the leaves, and roll in them. I love how everything has a Mommy, Daddy and a baby, including leaves. He picks up a big one and says Mommy, and then picks up a smaller one and says baby.
This week he also put 3 pairs of Peters underwear on (clean of course), and all at once and 2 legs through one leg hole so it looked more like a skirt with a funny back. Kieran loves his undies and apparently Daddy's too.
Rocky and I hit the ol' trail tonight in search of peace and inspiration. The fresh air (though cool) felt wonderful.. I went with the hopes of using a new tool with my camera while the sun was setting, but we ended up walking through the trail with another dog owner who happened to be out and about. It was lovely. After the first time round the sun had mostly disappeared, but I was able to sneak back in and catch this one before it got too dark, you would never know the highway is in behind.
It was nice being out just Rocky and I. My days are filled with busy, busy, busy. I interact lots of people all day-it was nice to be out somewhere quiet, connect with someone who has no idea who I am, and still have an instant connection, and have some alone time to just be in the universe...even though Rocky kept trying to pull me in the water...I need to get out more...back to my roots, back to the earth.
Just a couple photo's from apple picking last weekend. He loves apples, and he loves to help. He was so focused this year that he wasn't eating them all as he was putting them in the bag.
This week I am noticing more and more how he is putting words together to form small sentences 'here you go' and 'bag fall down'.
He went to a birthday party over the weekend and he loves to take care of people and other kids. He makes sure everyone is okay and would make sure that they had a chocolate, by reaching his hand out with a smile asking 'some?' then he would walk away smiling with joy. Sweet little guy.
Sold my first painting from my Color of Woman Training. She is one of my favourites and will always hold a special place in my heart. She is titled "Muse of Desire".
I thought it would be harder to let her go, but surprisingly it was not. The woman who adopted her had an instant connection with the piece. The painting even looked like her, and she has a connection with yellow butterflies.
This painting has been done since May 2014-but I hadn't varnished her. So last week as I was varnishing and honouring her, to display her at my Mom's new store (Crystals & Karma) I was falling in love with her again as if I had just painted her. I even specifically thought as I varnished the tree sections that I may not be able to let her go. Then a week later I get a call asking how much I would sell her for. I could feel that the woman who wanted to take her home loved her and needed her-and that made it easy for me. That is my purpose in creating art-for healing and inspiration in myself and others. I want my work to connect with the people who are buying it-I want them to feel something when they look at it-and let it connect to their story-no matter what my original intention was or what story I received while in the painting process. I know I won't be able to meet everyone who feels a connection with my work-but I am glad that I got yo meet her. It will be easier for me to trust that my loves are going home where they are needed and loved.
Kieran Sharing some Elmo Love. He loves is talking Elmo doll. Elmo has quite a few settings that are so much fun. Kieran's favourite is when you hop Elmo makes a 'boing' sound. Which is even funner to hear when Kieran is running up and down the grocery aisles-makes me laugh, and we usually get a few other smiles there too. Kieran also enjoys red light, green light with Elmo. But his favourite right now is Elmo's nap time setting. Elmo sings lullabies and says the sweetest things like "the best part of Elmo's day was being here with you'. Kieran wants Elmo on nap setting all the time. he loves rocking Elmo, giving him goodnight kisses, and tucking him in-which is exactly what he is doing in the photo above.
This weekend I tried to take some selfies with Kieran and I. I rarely am in pictures with Kieran, because I am usually the one taking the pictures. So I took out the tripod and tried the timer function. I thought it was going to be not so fun with a toddler, but it turned into a game of me setting up the camera with a 10 second delay, grabbing Kieran and running to the set spot. As soon as the shutter released Kieran would jump up with a big "oooooh, see,see see" and we would run to the camera to check out if it worked. Not too bad, and a lot of fun.
