This week blew by so fast. I am so glad that overall I have been able to keep up with Mommy Monday-I even find it hard after week to remember all the little things. This is my keep sake.
The above picture, is actually from December-we were working on some Christmas gifts. He was very serious about his work...and did not want to stop.
This week Kieran helped me paint a little on my giant canvas, the one I am working on for the whole year (through a class called the Red Madonna). We are in the early stages and he loves to help :) I love that even though this layer won't be seen in the end, I know that it is there and will remember we did it together-Daddy even painted a little too.
More recent photo, taken yesterday. Things got a little quiet so I went to investigate-this is what I found...
Good thing the lid was down, or we could of had ourselves a situation.
Well it definitely is Monday, as I drove to work this morning and looked in the back seat realizing I forgot to drop Kieran off at the sitters. Luckily I was only a minute or two past her street, but definitely made for a laugh.
This past weekend we tried a pinterest idea of putting paint in a zip lock bag and taping it to the window, for mess-less finger painting. Well if it doesn't make a mess Kieran isn't interested-so he had more fun with the tape and an epic game of peek-a-boo.
Kieran is starting to flash his vocabulary now instead of just daddy and kitty-he has expanded his vocabulary to consistently include apple, and hockey.
...and I just want to add that I got the best hug before bedtime tonight, which included him rubbing my back as he nuzzled into my neck-love my little man, I may be exhausted and frazzled enough to forget to drop him off int he morning, but his hugs, laughs and smiles are my energizer.
Today is the full moon, this moon has also been called storm moon, snow moon and hunger moon...and so far it has kept its promise (in our area at least).
Today I released my first full moon lesson of the year in my class "In Tune with the moon". We started our Journey at the first New Moon of the year (January 20th), and today is our first full moon during the class (but the second full moon of the year. To the left is the page in my journal that I created for today's class. There are many layers and meaning behind it that we work through. One of the big things that came up for me during this piece was creating balance inside and out, and how appropriate my moon sign is in being Libra (whose icon is scales).
Today's Full Moon is in Leo, a time to take the stage and be seen, and be appreciated...even if you have to do it yourself. Sometimes we rely too much on others to notice us, or appreciate us, when really we are the ones who should witness ourselves. Sometimes our critic overtakes us and we feel we are no good, but silence the critic and let yourself be with yourself, how would you talk to yourself if you were a 5 year old? Can you look at the things you do and not pass judgement on yourself? it is hard to be neutral with yourself. I challenge you this month to take some time to honour yourself, take some deep breaths and check in and acknowledge yourself, nod and say 'I am doing a good job.' Even if there is a storm brewing inside, breath, step back and look again from a different perspective.
We had a fun week this week. I got to spend two extra days with Kieran this week due to the snow.
Let's see... One of the memories I will have to share with Kieran is the time his Mommy caught him eating chalk. He was happily scribbling away on our chalkboard wall, and then laying out all the colours on the windowsill, and the next thing I know he has a mouth full of purple chalk.
On one of the storm days last week, Kieran helped me make homemade chocolate chip cookie, definitely a winning recipe. He really likes to dump things in and stir, he even puts the oven mitts on and tries to open the oven (thank goodness he can't do that yet). We have been trying to make home cooked meals lately and so far so good, 2 weeks straight, but Kieran definitely makes time in the kitchen interesting. That being said, I hope I never forget those little arms hugging my legs while I cook, and his smiles as he sneaks a cookie , or piece of pasta.
Last night he was so silly at bedtime. We were at his Grampy and Grammie Slader's house and he had his bath and it was time for bottle and story... But Kieran decided it was time to run, play, laugh with great gusto, practice trying to jump, play peek a boo, and throw things for about 30 minutes. Then he crashed and we took the opportunity to get him to the car. He was asleep by the time we got home.
