Last weekend I spent my day with four wonderful women as we journeyed to meet the Queen of our Heart. For a couple it was their first time doing a portrait, but you would never know from the result of their paintings. I am so proud of them. They worked really hard uncovering her and pulling her through the canvas though layers and layers of paint. Everyone was very supportive of each other.
At the beginning of the day we started with a thread of connection and pulled up old stories where we did not do what are heart wanted to do and how that felt, and how we would have felt if we had lived out our hearts desire in that moment. We shared this these feelings in one word-the words they chose were each different, but yet the same-powerful words of opportunities lost but of hope of possibilities in the future.
We have all experienced this before, letting go of a heart's desire for whatever reason. Some of us have been doing it so long we forget what it feels like to take action of our hearts desires. To me listening to my heart was scary, and the more I ignored her the more disappointed in myself. I had been mostly afraid of what others would think of my dreams and desires. This year I have made leaps in following my heart, and have been building my wings on the way down, one feather at a time. I believe that following your heart opens doors and connections to others who are on a similar journey, and those who are looking for a reason to start listening to their heart. I believe that together when we follow our heart and let our authentic self shine, our core self, not the self we think others want us to be, we create a better world-one step, one dare at a time.
