Tucking sweet little Kieran into his car seat and taking a peaceful drive into town-singing Christmas tunes and lullabys, while he drifts off into a gentle slumber...NOT...News flash-Kieran hates the car. Nine out if every ten car rides is the car ride from hell.
Pro-I don't gave to go out in the middle of the night in the freezing cold to drive him around so he will go to sleep.
Con-driving anywhere means him screaming as loud as he can for the duration of the trip (once for 45 min). It is awful because I can't do anything to soothe him. He gets so upset, all I want to do is hold and cuddle him. Often when Peter and I are both in the car, whoever is the passenger is stretched and trying to hold his hand. I really don't want a speeding ticket, but it is tempting to want get wherever we are going faster.
I don't know how he can keep up the energy to cry full force for 20 minutes. I would be exhausted- poor little guy. He always gets some extra snuggles after a drive.
Pro- I save gas because I don't want to drive anywhere.
I hope that he outgrows his strong dislike for the car. Personally, I love sleeping in the car-not while driving- hopefully someday he will too.
