Happy New Year!! I can't believe that it has been four years since I began my blog on creativity and life. My first blog was www.talkingflightwithart.weebly.com, to document my creative and spiritually journey. Now here I am still working on my creative journey, growing and transforming. This is quite a feat for me, usually I fizzle out with projects but this renewal of creative spirit is a huge part of who I am and need. Four years ago I was so inspired by Tamara Laporte and her classes and Life Book that I specifically remember writing that my dream is to help others using creativity and here I am-still pursuing that dream one step at a time. I have run classes online and some in-person this past year. This is huge for me as I would typically be described as a shy, quiet and timid person!
Each year I like to choose a word that represents my journey. Last year my word was' wild'. Which to me meant stepping out of my comfort zone and expanding it, being open to opportunities and taking the dare even if it scared me-and I did! Now I am ready to release that word (not stopping the expansion) and adopt another. Through some intense journaling, the word that I have adopted is 'ease'. While last year was a great year for growth it was also quite chaotic and stressful at times. Sometimes I allow things to consume me and I feel like I have nothing left to give-even to myself. So 'ease' seemed quite fitting and oddly is popping up all over-music, books, words that I never noticed contain 'ease' (such as release). To me this year's focus is on simplicity, and relaxing and easing into things, not being afraid to say "no". To make time to rejuvenate, grow as a mother and wife, allow my dream to move forward with out forcing it, to find my authentic voice and self and learn how to share it. In short to me 'ease' is slowing down and inviting/allowing expansion, just allowing things to unfold as they are with acceptance and and open heart and mind (easier said than done).
With this theme in mind I have set some flexible goals for the year, which I broke down into monthly goals focusing on mental/emotional, physical, spiritual, and heart/dreams. The biggest thing for me is that rejuvenation and me so my theme for the first 3 months is sacred self. January I have chosen 3 goals: 1) journal everyday-I do journal quite often even if it is in my art, but I also found a Instagram challenge for self love at www.galadarling.com, which I am doing as well (which I think counts as journaling and documenting). I took the above selfie for this challenge-day one was radical selfie love. 2) Go to gym at least once a week, I have been pretty good at this, but the past month or so has been hard to maintain and now that it is colder out I am going to need some extra motivation to leave the house-I do not like the cold.; 3) Post a free demo art journal class online (dream related).
So what are your reflections-failures, wishes, celebrations-on 2015? What are you ready to release and what are you ready to bring forward into 2016? If you could pick one word that you hope represents your 2016 what would it be?
